Maya Angelou once wrote, "To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power." Mothers are true forces of nature—strong, courageous, caring, and filled with an immense love that makes their children feel protected, secure, and unstoppable. Their influence is profound, leaving a lasting impact on everyone they touch.
This Mother's Day, we celebrate the incredible women of the AG team who embody strength and character in every aspect of their lives, expressed through their individual style. Featuring personal stories and self-styled looks, we’ll highlight their unique journeys and explore how motherhood has shaped their identity, confidence, and approach to personal style.
"Finding a way to incorporate fashion into motherhood
has re-allowed me to redefine what confident means for me."

Meet Kehau Gegory
AG Office Manager
Kehau is wearing Hattie in Sulfur Black and Adalyn in Powder
Motherhood is where she finds her greatest strength. It continually pushes her to be her best self, deepening her self-awareness and resilience. With intention and care, she strives to model the qualities she hopes to pass on to her child, bringing her best traits to the forefront while letting go of the rest.
When it comes to how her personal style has evolved since having her daughter, she says it has shifted from fashion over function to a more practical approach.
“You're going to softball games and theater practice, etc, etc., so now it's much more comfortable. And I've had to rethink what that means. Being comfortable and being able to be flexible wherever you go, while still maintaining that fashion-over-function mentality. I think for me, it's more casual with a hint of spice. So I'll accessorize or the funkier shoe with like a more, you know, comfortable, casual outfit is how I've tried to blend in my former self with my sort of current mom, motherhood self.”
When asked about her go-to style hack since becoming a mom, Kehau keeps it short and sweet: flat forms.
“So I'm a big shoe and accessory like bag person, but I need a little height at 5'2". I'm always looking for just a little extra length, and you want to be comfortable, but at the same time, fashionable. So, a little wedge, flat form sandal is kind of my go-to.”
Meet Lisa Brock
Digital Marketing Manager
Lisa is wearing the Angel in Central Coast, Robyn Jacket in Central Coast, and Jaxon Tank in True White
Her superpower as a mom comes from being a great multitasker. “As a full-time professional and full-time mom, you have to dig deep to find that inner strength and ability to handle both those areas.”
“I would describe my style as being timeless, versatile, and functional. My staple item is the infamous denim jacket. It’s my go-to when it gets cold, you have it when it gets warm, and you just want to brighten up that outfit. It’s right there.”
“My go-to styling. The trick is layering, which ties into being functional. So you could be at a fun event. You could be at a parent teacher conference and just having a blazer jacket, a denim jacket, something to layer a flannel shirt. And that is my go-to styling tip.”
Meet Sam Carr-Richardson
Customer Service
Sam is wearing the Hattie Short in Ivory Mist and Jagger Muscle in True Black
Since becoming a mother, Sam has embraced a more subdued and natural style. Once drawn to bold colors and loud prints, she now favors neutral tones and simple, understated fits. In her view, this is her daughter's time to shine - and she wants her style to enhance that light, not overshadow it.
“I remember my maternity fashion. That was a really big struggle for me, because fashion has always been a way that I identify and express myself. And so my biggest concern was that I didn't want to wear the stretchy pants. I didn't want to wear the things that were going to conceal my body. And so for me, it was learning to embrace it and still being modest and appropriate, but to enhance those beautiful parts of the body, because I think pregnancy is a beautiful aspect of a woman's body. [Belly out] was definitely a look, and I definitely got some looks from people, but you know what? I felt like myself, and I think that was the biggest concern that I would lose part of myself as I stepped into this new chapter of my life.”
A lesson that Sam says motherhood has taught her is to just let go, because even though having plans can be great, life isn’t always big on following them.
“What's surprised me is my ability to just keep going. I always knew I was tenacious, but the ability to just go on when I'm not feeling well. As I mentioned earlier, you've got to do things for your kid. It's no longer just yourself. You have to get outside your own little world and realize that they're depending on you. Their sole existence. It just depends on you, especially for me. My daughter is much younger, and she's not talking yet, so it has required me to really use those senses in ways I never thought I would. I think it's been really neat for me to learn how to do that. Life is not what you expect. You know, you start out one way, and then you get things thrown at you, and you just go with it. Like I said, life is this beautiful road, and you just got to see where it takes you.”
During her pregnancy, Sam found creative ways to style her favorite non-maternity pieces, allowing her to express herself while embracing her changing body.
“I got so many compliments. And a lot of them were older women, which you would have thought would have been maybe mortified, or like, why are you showing so much? But they were like, you know, it's so nice to see a mother embracing her stomach instead of trying to conceal it. That kind of surprised me. And it solidified that not only was I happy, but it was also a kind of inspiration to other mothers. So, you know, especially as fashion has always been a big staple of mine, finding a way to incorporate fashion into motherhood has re-allowed me to redefine what confident means for me. Which has been amazing.”
Meet Meghan Cope
International Sales & Licensing
Megan is wearing the Hattie in Flashback and Leny in Sulfur Black
Motherhood has simplified Meghan's approach to style, leading her to adopt a more comfortable, effortless, and confident look in her everyday attire.
“A uniform for me isn't about wearing the same thing every day. It's about versatility. It's something that makes me feel confident, and the ease with which I wear it every day. I love denim - mostly a comfy jean with an easy breezy top. And I always have on my Birkenstocks - rarely ever without them.”
For Meghan, motherhood has taught her the importance of being present, patient, and resilient. “Really being there in the moment,” she says. “Focusing on my kids without having any distractions.”
The demands of motherhood have simplified Meghan’s personal style, prompting her to rely on easy, comfortable basics that she can quickly throw on.
“As a mom on the move, I practice the essence of elevated basics. For me, I'm always traveling - I'm on the go. I have my denim and I have a black t-shirt. I try to trick people into thinking that I haven't been sleeping for only four hours last night by putting on a red lip and a gold hoop earring. And always my Birkenstocks.”
Meet Karen Grodski
Buyer/Planner
Karen is wearing the Kora in Recall and Leny in Powder
Motherhood has been a humbling experience that has both mentally and emotionally challenged her.
“Each day really is a new opportunity to build resilience. And for me, that means meeting each challenge with grace and embracing the joys of motherhood. Strength can come in many different forms. It can be about your inner personal fortitude. But also having the courage to ask for help.”
Motherhood has also influenced Karen's approach to personal style. Today, her wardrobe is centered around comfort, ease, and simplicity. She gravitates towards reliable staples in a variety of shapes and lengths, making it easy to put together an outfit and head out the door.
“As an individual and as a new mom, I would say that it's very important to not lose sight of yourself. Everyone will have advice to give, whether it be, again, your style or being a parent. But it's important to listen to your instincts and trust your gut in defining your own identity in both.”
Here’s to the women who wear their strength in every stitch.
