Off The Cuff: Dodgers Opening Day

Go behind the scenes with AG Jeans’ Director of E-Commerce and Brand Marketing at Dodger Stadium for a special Opening Day event celebrating with exclusive styles and customization experience.

Join AG Jeans' Director of E-Commerce and Brand Marketing, Graham McCulloch, as he takes us behind the scenes of a special AG activation at Dodger Stadium for the wives and girlfriends of the players, to celebrate the Opening Day of the 2025 season.

“I’ve been a Dodger fan for over 40 years, so when they won the 2024 World Series, it was an emotional full-circle moment. I was 12 when they won in ’88, and as incredible as the 2020 win was, there were days when the so-called "asterisk" around that season really stung. So from the moment they sealed the championship last year, we’ve been working with players, their partners, and reps to create something meaningful—and when we landed on a customization suite for the wives, girlfriends, and partners of the team for Opening Day, I was beyond excited. For AG, and for the little kid in me who used to fall asleep listening to a recording of a game and Vin Scully say, ‘It’s time for Dodger baseball.’”

I woke up early and drove to the stadium, arriving just after 8am, having had to dial back the fan gear hard. I had plans for my Dodger-color Air Force 1s and a vintage Mike Scioscia jersey, but professionalism won out—mostly. I found a good middle ground between Dodger Blue pride and AG chic.

Walking into an empty Dodger Stadium is a surreal experience. The parking lot was empty, the player spots marked with their numbers—like walking through a behind-the-scenes dream. But that feeling wore off fast because we had work to do. The AG team spent the morning hauling boxes, setting up racks, hanging signage, positioning balloon fixtures, and coordinating with the chain stitchers. It was sweaty, unglamorous work, but the team crushed it—and the energy was there from the start.

As players started rolling in, I’ll be honest—I lost focus. I got teased pretty relentlessly by the AG team for looking like a puppy staring out of a pet shop window as Clayton Kershaw, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts strolled past. When Dave Roberts stepped out of his car and said good morning to a group of people (none of whom were me), I still somehow convinced myself he meant me.

Once the event kicked off, Amelia May was our first VIP and couldn’t have been more gracious. She found some great pieces, picked her customizations, and set the tone for what became a nonstop wave of guests. At one point we had 30+ people packed into the tent, everyone trying on AG, working with the chain stitchers, and customizing pieces for themselves and their partners.

I took on the task of helping the ladies shop for “their” players—which honestly was a highlight. Hearing from Kayla Vesia the next day that the jeans I picked out for Alex were a perfect fit felt like a walk-off win in its own right.

When the event wrapped, we got to head into the stadium to catch the last few innings. We made it just in time for the seventh-inning stretch and then—perfect timing—Ohtani hit one out of the park, “oppo”! I wish we’d seen more of the game, but being able to merge my passion for AG with my lifelong love of the Dodgers? That’s the kind of moment that sticks with you.

Until next time!
